He ain’t ugly, he’s my brother 2
At first we thought it might have been worth while and see if the motor would turn over but, upon checking the state of the oil it pretty much nailed the coffin on the motor.
The amount of work and time that we would have to put in at disassembling and reassembly - it just doesn't make sense.
Although, I'm sure many readers will make the comment - it's a ChumpCar - run what you brung! The reality is we're not about to drive a ticking time bomb to endurance races.
We are hardcore racer's - not crazy... (ok, maybe even that's debatable)
The transmission we have hopes that it can be salvaged. The unit is sealed and the exterior condition is more cosmetic than anything. A little elbow grease to clean it up and it should look pretty once again. We will service the transmission at a latter date.
Warning - not a pretty picture...
The integra is still oozing...
Lots of rust...
The clutch might have been salvaged except the springs have all snapped.
The wheel bearings are damaged.
The CV boots most likely is damaged as well - being submerged was most likely not healthy.
The steering boots that are are peaking out behind the hub are damaged as well. (damaged from underneath), which means the steering rack is in need of service. Anyone with a spare Integra steering rack laying around?
As the motor sits out of the way it gives us time to start cleaning and removing non essential wiring and parts like the AC system. It's starting to be a race car...
