He ain’t ugly, he’s my brother 3
Parts still litter the floor as we go through and salvage what is still usable; to be honest we're all a little tired at working on the Chumpcar 2. It has been a tough journey in preparing this race car:
- Damaged bearings
- Damaged bushings
- Damaged motor mounts
- Rust every where
- Seized calipers
- Waterlogged electrical
- Drilling rusted components out
- Cutting seized components out
We haven't even started on racing stuff yet...
It's safe to say we won't be using this ECU.
The half tank of fuel that turned into a full fuel tank (High River flood)...* none of this smelled like fuel *
The HVAC/heating system after some encouragement and grease is finally working. We would remove the system all together to save weight but, then we would have nothing to battle the rain with as the windshield fogs up.
A bit of welding for the race seat.
Electrical wiring was another matter, as many of connectors were submerged under water. As a result, many of the pins showed signs of corrosion, which means each pin on the connectors had to be de-pinned, brushed, and then reinserted. A few extra grounds have been added and the new ECU powers up without any complaints.
The engine bay is no longer bare and it's getting to the point where we can fire up the engine,
Coolant is added back in and the radiator doesn't leak - we'll have to see what happens when it pressurizes.
And so we start the engine...
