We have tried to chronicle the build, but like all things in life; time is fleeting.
This isn't the end of project build NSX, we have just reach the point where we are changing hands. Team members BSD North will be taking over and then we will be heading out to see Toma @ Dynomotive.
I've been thinking about what to write for the last section and not make it overly technical on suspension tuning. It is a science to balance the handling characteristics of the vehicle. The biggest obstacle for a nineties super car is the discontinuation of parts and race parts for that matter.
One of the tools we use is a set of scales to find the balance. The NSX being a supercar the balance out of the box is what you would expect; meaning it's very well balanced for a street car, only this is a race car. This does translates to a lot less suspension tuning magic, but it still involves a lot of time to get that number. The only speed bumps the NSX has to contend with is the red and white curbing at the track.
The ultimate goal is to keep the tyres on the road. We take into consideration almost everything, sitting positions, drive line, weight distribution, wheel alignment, height, spring rates, down force ... It's a long list and for every change it can be a compromise.
Did I lose any viewers? Look there's a dog... (He wasn't very helpful in the process)
Kidding aside, we have been moving things around for the past week and we are at a point were we can say we have a good base line.
A view from the other side. The bolts you see are the DARCO coated bolts and the O2 sensors connector.
A few parts are starting to come in and we are taking a small break on the NSX. The next story will be with NSX in full race trim.
Soon to terrorize at a track near you!
